Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 from10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. — Peapod Academy Children’s Storytime

Welcome to the Peapod Academy. Join some of the cutest babies, toddlers, & preschoolers in town and adults of their choice at the Library. Little peas will enjoy books & storytime, songs & music, fingerplays, movement, hands on activities, arts & crafts, and other cadets. Each week has a different theme.  Get to know others and support your little one’s developmental skills. No preregistration required.


Saturdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. — Children’s Craft Open House

Get creative! Let your imagination run wild!  Children under 12 are encouraged to come to the library during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to make fun and creative seasonal crafts.  Adult supervision is recommended. 


Saturday, March 3 & 17 from 2:00 -  4:00 p.m. — Poetry Workshop

Participants should bring 10 copies of a poem they wish to have read and work-shopped.  Each poem will be read by the poet and perhaps by another reader. Participants then respond with emphasis on positive comments and constructive suggestions. Recommended for advanced poets—this is not a workshop for beginners. Meets in the Community Room. Mondays, March 5, 12, 19 & 26 from10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. — Third Street Writers Group Ink

Serious writeres working on projects (short stories, novels, plays) meet to share feedback and support.  This is not a workshop for beginners.  Contact the library for additional information.


Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Bedtime’s Math: Crazy 8s Club

Crazy 8s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities! This is an 8 week program for  K-2nd grade. The club will meet once a week for one hour. Space is limited -  Pre-registration is required. 


Tuesday, March 6 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. — Pajama Storytime

Please come (wear pajamas & slippers!) & enjoy the Sunshine Readers as they whisk the whole family off to dreamland.  The National Charity League-Laguna Chapter generously provides this program.


Wednesdays, March 7, 14, 21 & 28 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.— Preschool  Storytime

Toddlers and preschoolers, come and enjoy our Wednesday storytime! Stories, songs, dancing, and more will encourage a love of books and learning in a fun and interactive environment. Come for the stories and stay for playtime afterward.


Wednesday, March 7 from 10:30 a.m.– 11:00– Parent Education Event– Tips to help your child develop positive peer relationships

Please join the LBUSD School Readiness Team at the Laguna Beach Public Library for free parent education events to support school readiness with Grace Jones, LBUSD Psychologist. The Laguna Beach Unified School's District's school readiness program offers free developmental screening, referrals to           community resources and a weekly learning link to support young children and families. Wednesday, March 7 from 2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.—Art at the Library by LOCA

A hands-on workshop taught by professional artists from LOCA Arts Education. Class is limited to 12 participants in   K– 3rd grade.  Children attend on their own without an adult.  We'll meet to hear a story and create a "masterpiece" based on the book of the month. We will be using printmaking techniques. This month’s theme is watercolor flowers. Gather at the library at 2:45 p.m. The art portion of this class starts promptly at 3:00 p.m.  Late comers may not be admitted.  Preregistration is required.  Please call the library or stop by to sign up at 949-497-1733.


Thursday, March 8 from 3:30– 4:30 p.m.– After School STEM Program.

Our STEM program promotes critical thinking, problem solving and creativity—for kids 9-years and up.  We’ll learn all kinds of cool ways to design things that go! We’ll play with the weather and work with math concepts too.  It’s fun and awesome to learn by hands-on experience! Pre-registration is required.


Saturday, March 10 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.—Laguna Beach Library Banned Books Club

Join this rebel reading group once a month to discuss a book that has been challenged and/or banned. This month we will be discussing “Howl” by                Allen Ginsberg


Monday, March 12 from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. — Adult Book Discussion Group

We will be meeting to discuss the book Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J. D. Vance.


Thursday, March 14 from 3:00 p.m.— 4:30 p.m. ­—  3-D Printing Workshop

Schedule a 20-minute session with our 3-D printer. Staff will print the item and contact you when it is ready for pickup.  Space is limited, so preregistration is required.  Consult the library for available times, or for more information, ask a staff member. Sign-up at the Check-Out Desk.


Wednesday March 21 from  3:00 p.m.– 5:00 P.m.—Movie Night at Laguna Beach Library

Learn about interesting facts from the movie guy as we talk about To Kill A Mockingbird with Gregory Peck, Mary Badham, Brock Peters and Robert Duvall and then show the movie.


Saturday, March 24 from 10:30 a.m.—11:30 a.m.—Belly Dancing in the Books

Come see this wonderful live event here at Laguna Beach Library. Popular local troupe JJ & the Habibis Laguna Beach Belly  Dancers are going put up a wonderful show!


Thursday, March 27 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. — B.A.R.K

Kids can read aloud to Salsa our therapy dog, Venus.  She’s so sweet and a very good listener.  Bow-Wow! Please preregister at the          Children’s Desk or call the library. Drop-ins welcome too! 


Saturday, March 31 from 11:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.– Movie Star Robots: Wall-E and R2-D2 Replicas with Mike Senna

Mike Senna is a skilled prop maker hobbyist who makes a living as a computer programmer. Mike built his first R2-D2 in 2003 because he was looking for a challenge.R2-D2 has represented Lucas film since 2005, in TV shows, commercials & at events such as the 2007 & 2016 Rose Parades, & 2016 Oscars.
